When he joined the organization in April of 2021, he was the backup to Travis d’Arnaud and hit just .048 in nine games. Both catchers were injured on May 1st, with d’Arnaud injuring his left thumb in the sixth inning and Jackson spraining his hamstring.
At the Gwinnett Stripers on May 28th he hit three home runs, but due to a catchers’ duel between William Contreras and Kevan Smith in Atlanta, he couldn’t make it back.
To make matters worse for Jackson, the Braves later traded for the experienced outfielder Stephen Vogt. he was traded to the Miami Marlins in exchange for Adam Duvall on July 30th. With three home runs and 12 RBIs in 42 games for Miami, it was his longest major league tenure to date.
