Alex Whittingham is the defensive quality control coach for the Kansas City Chiefs.
Whittingham served as a missionary for the LDS church in Auckland, New Zealand for two years after high school (October 2011-October 2013).
From 2013 through 2017, he was a walk-on for the Utes, earning four letters and appearing in 44 games. He handled short snaps for the whole season and long snaps for the first four games of the 2017 season, as well as being a member of the kick return team.
He was named to the Pac-12 Academic All-Academic team three times as an honorable mention. Whittingham played for his father, Kyle, who was the Utes’ head coach, and his uncle, Freddie Whittingham, who was the tight ends coach, while at Utah.
Whittingham worked extensively with the outside linebackers throughout the 2018 season, including fifth-year LB Dee Ford, who was tied for first in the NFL with All-Pro DE J.J. Watt with seven forced fumbles and a career-high 13.0 sacks.
Whittingham mostly worked with a linebacking unit that has 3.0 sacks and 245 tackles in 2020. Whittingham worked with the defensive line in 2019, which included Pro Bowl DT Chris Jones and DE Frank Clark, who led the team with 9.0 and 8.0 sacks, respectively.
