Anthony Benjamin Kay is an American professional baseball pitcher who now plays for the Toronto Blue Jays of Major League Baseball. Kay was born on March 21, 1995, in the United States (MLB).
During the 2016 Major League Baseball draft, the New York Mets selected Kay in the first round with the 31st overall choice.
However, he did not sign with the New York Mets after being selected by them in the 29th round of the 2013 Major League Baseball Draft. He played collegiate baseball for the University of Connecticut,
where he attended school. He participated in 18 total games during his rookie year at Connecticut, and he started eight of those contests.
He was a member of the Wareham Gatemen of the Cape Cod Baseball League during the summers of 2014 and 2015 when he played collegiate summer baseball.
This year, the New York Mets drafted Matt Kay with their first-round pick in the MLB Draft (31st overall). After being selected,
Kay had Tommy John’s surgery on October 4, 2016, and did not play in any games. This year’s All-Star Futures Game selected him as a participant.
It was only on June 14 that he was promoted to the Syracuse Mets from the Binghamton Rumble Ponies for the 2019 season.
