Austin Pruitt is a pitcher with the Oakland Athletics of Major League Baseball, and he is an American citizen. As a former MLB player, he’s spent time with Tampa Bay, Houston Astros, and Miami Marlins, among other teams.

A native of The Woodlands, Texas, Pruitt graduated from The Woodlands College Park High School in The Woodlands and attended Navarro College and the University of Houston for his college baseball careers.

The Tampa Bay Rays selected him in the ninth round of the 2013 MLB draft. Prior to being promoted to Bowling Green in July, he played for the Hudson Valley Renegades in his inaugural season.

His record was 0-3 with a 1.44 earned run average in 14 games (seven starts) played.

For the Charlotte Stone Crabs in 2014 and the Montgomery Biscuits in 2015, the right-hander had a combined record of 9-7 with a 3.73 earned run average in 26 appearances each year.

In 2016, he made 28 starts for the Durham Bulls and went 8-11 with a 3.76 ERA. After the 2016 season, the Rays included Pruitt on their 40-man roster.

Austin Pruitt is married to Danielle. Danielle and Pruitt met in college at the University of Houston, where Danielle was a soccer player. In November of 2017, the pair tied the knot.
