Barbara Charone is a public relations officer for musicians in the United States. Despite her American citizenship, most of her writings are set in the United Kingdom. She was a journalist and music critic who worked for the Chicago Sun-Times, NME, and Rolling Stone while still a university student in the early 1970s.

Barbara was born in Chicago, Illinois, and raised there. She wrote pop songs for her school magazine while studying English at Northwestern University. Charone moved to England in 1974 to work as a staff writer for Sounds Magazine. In the 1970s, she also wrote feature articles and reviews for publications such as Crawdaddy!, Ceem, and Circus.

Charone began her career in public relations when she joined the WEA or Warner Music in 1981. She was later promoted to the position of Head of the Company press department. She held the position for 13 years.

On  Friday, May 27th Charone was awarded the as the Winner of the Strat at the Music Week Awards 2022.
