Blake M. Bell was born on August 7, 1991, and currently plays for the Kansas City Chiefs of the National Football League as a tight end. The San Francisco 49ers selected him in the fourth round of the 2015 NFL Draft and signed him to a contract. He played college football at Oklahoma, where he was dubbed the “Bulldozer” because of his size and running style.
At Bishop Carroll Catholic High School in Wichita, he played quarterback for his high school team. He threw for 2,752 yards and 32 touchdowns as a senior in 2009. In terms of pro-style quarterback prospects, Rivals.com has him pegged as the sixth-best prospect.
The Tigers drafted him in the 43rd round of the 2010 MLB Draft, but he declined to sign with them.
His father Mark Bell played for the Seattle Seahawks, Baltimore Ravens, and the Indianapolis Colts.
In 2010, Bell was a redshirt freshman at the University of Oklahoma after accepting a football scholarship there. When he was the backup quarterback in 2011, he rushed 44 times for 171 yards and 13 touchdowns with the Oklahoma Sooners jumbo package.
He completed only one of four throws for an average of eight yards per attempt and threw an interception. His 51 yards rushing on 10 carries and three touchdowns earned him MVP honors at the 2011 Insight Football Championship.
