Who is Faustin-Archange Touadéra
The current President of the Central African Republic is Faustin Touadera (full name Professor Faustin Archange Touadera).
He previously served as Prime Minister and was duly elected in 2016. Before becoming a rector, Touadera earned two PhDs in mathematics and worked as a mathematics professor at the University of Bangui.
He remained to teach mathematics even as rector and then Prime Minister, citing the scarcity of skilled professors and the fact that being in the classroom allowed him to retain intimate contact with the general population.
When he is not traveling overseas, he returns to campus and teaches his advanced mathematics course.
