Burke was acquired by the Texas Rangers from the Tampa Bay Rays on December 21, 2018, as part of a three-team trade in which the Rangers received Kyle Bird, Yoel Espinal, Eli White, and $750,000 in international signing bonus pool space
The Rays received Emilio Pagan, Rollie Lacy, and a competitive balance pick in the 2019 MLB draft (Seth Johnson), and the Oakland Athletics received Jurickson Profar.
Burke started the 2019 season with the Frisco RoughRiders of the Double-A Texas League. Burke was placed on the disabled list on April 23 after experiencing shoulder discomfort and blisters.
