Bruce Arians Biography
Bruce Arians is an American football coach in the National Football League who was born in Paterson, New Jersey. He began his career playing football in high school before playing college career at Virginia Tech.
During his time in college, he helped the record most quarterbacks rushing touchdown in the season. Right after graduating, he kick-started his coaching career at Virginia Tech as a graduate assistant – a record broken by Jerod Evans, in 2016.

Bruce Arians College Coaching Career
Bruce Arians began his college coaching career as a graduate assistant at Virginia Tech in 1975. He then joined Mississippi State University (running backs and wide receivers) as an assistant coach from 1978 to 1980. As the running backs coach, Arians served the University of Alabama from 1981 to 1982 under head coach, Paul Bryant.
Arians was likewise the head coach at Temple University from 1983–88. While head coach for the Owls, he ordered a 27–39 generally record north of six seasons. Every one of the six of Temple’s wins during the 1986 season was subsequently relinquished; running back Paul Palmer, who was the sprinter up in the Heisman Trophy casting a ballot in 1986, had endorsed with a games specialist before the season, making Palmer ineligible.

After ending his college career in 1988, Kansas City Chiefs hired Bruce Arians as running backs coach. During his stay at the Chiefs, then the head coach, Bill Cowher, managed to link him to Pittsburgh Steelers.

He was by the Pittsburgh Steelers after the 2003 season as wide receivers coach, helping them in winning Super Bowl XL. He was then promoted to the role of offensive coordinator in 2007, helping them win Super Bowl XLIII. His contract with the Steelers expired after the 2011 season.
Indianapolis Colts
From 1988 to 2000, Arians served as the quarterbacks’ coach for the Colts. On January 28, 2012, Arians signed a deal to become the offensive coordinator for the Colts after the tenure of Clyde Christensen. He was promoted to the role of interim head coach following coach Chuck Pagano’s leukemia diagnosis. Arians set the as the first coach to win AP coach of the year (2012) as the interim head coach.
Arizona Cardinals
Arians joined the Cardinals coaching staff as their 40th head coach on January 17, 2013. He announced his retirement from coaching after five seasons with the Arizona Cardinals.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers
On January 8, 2019, Bruce Arians sealed a four-year contract to come out of retirement and became the 12th head coach of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He is considered as the first head coach to lead an NFL team to play and win a Super Bowl in their home stadium when they defeated the Kansas City Chiefs 31–9 in Super Bowl LV.
