Cameron Smith is an Australian professional golfer who plays on the PGA Tour. He has won five times on the PGA Tour, including the 2022 Players Championship. He was also runner-up in the 2020 Masters Tournament.
In 2013, Smith made the transition from amateur to professional status and began playing on the PGA Tour of Australasia. Both the 2015 Coca-Cola Queensland PGA Championship and the 2016 Emirates Australian Open were competitions in which he finished in a tie for second place.
In 2014, Smith competed on the Asian Tour. He had seven finishes that were in the top ten, which earned him a fifth-place overall position on the Order of Merit. His best finish came in 2014 at the CIMB Niaga Indonesian Masters, where he tied for second place.
Smith competed in his first PGA Tour tournament in October 2014 at the CIMB Classic. This event was co-sanctioned with the Asian Tour, and Smith finished in a tie for fifth place.
Smith, who participated in the RBC Heritage because of a sponsor’s exemption, finished tied for 15th place in April. Following his participation in the 2015 U.S. Open, where he finished in the top four, he was extended an invitation to the 2016 Masters Tournament.
Additionally, as a result of his finish, Smith was granted Special Temporary Membership on the PGA Tour for the balance of the 2015 season.
