Professional tennis player Casper Ruud is from Norway. The highest-ranked tennis player in Norwegian history, he now has the No. 5 singles ranking in the world, which he attained on June 13, 2022. Eight of his nine ATP Tour singles victories on clay courts, out of nine total victories.
While competing in the boys’ singles event at the 2015 French Open, he was defeated by Corentin Denolly before the third round. In the respective Junior Grand Slam competitions, he also advanced to the third round of the boys’ singles at the 2015 US Open and the 2015 Wimbledon. These results represent his best singles results to date. He set out to play in Futures competitions and begin moving up the ATP rankings for the 2016 season.
He faced Carlos Taberner in Paguera, Spain, in his first Futures final in February 2016, which he ultimately defeated. A medical condition prevented him from competing in the 2022 Australian Open. The Argentina Open was his first tournament after his recovery, where he won his seventh ATP singles championship by defeating Diego Schwartzman in the championship match. In Wimbledon, he defeated Albert Ramos-Vinolas to earn his first major victory.
Kyle Edmund, Tim van Rijthoven, and Tommy Paul were all defeated by him before he advanced to the fourth round. As a result, he advanced to his second major semifinal by defeating 13th seed Matteo Berrettini and lucky loser Corentin Moutet, the latter of whom he overcame in straight sets. In his semifinal game, he’ll take on the 27th-seeded Karen Khachanov.
