Chad Keith Green born May 24, 1991 is a New York Yankees pitcher (MLB). In 2016, he made his MLB debut as a starting pitcher for the Yankees. Born in Greenville, SC. Howard and Sheena Green raised him. He has a twin brother (Chase), an elder sister (Lynsie), and an older brother (Blake).
Green was three-time All-Apollo Conference, two-time All-Area, and All-State for Effingham High School in Illinois. Green was picked 37th overall by the Toronto Blue Jays in 2010. He didn’t sign with Toronto and joined the Louisville Cardinals instead. His career ERA was 2.38. In 2011 and 2012, he played summer collegiate baseball with the Bourne Braves.
The Yankees optioned Green to the RailRiders after 2017 spring training. Green joined the Yankees on May 8. Green made his Yankees debut on May 9 as a reliever. Green made his season debut against the Baltimore Orioles on June 11. Two runs in two innings, three strikeouts.
Green finished the season 5–0 with a 1.83 ERA and 103 strikeouts. Both he and Dellin Betances have struck out 100 hitters as relievers. Green relieved Luis Severino in the first inning of the 2017 American League Wild Card Game after three runs scored. Green pitched a scoreless second inning before being removed in the third. Green allowed one earned run in two innings, striking out four. 2017: 5–0 record, 1.83 ERA, 0.74 WHIP in 40 games.
