Christopher Riley Martin, professionally known as Chris Martin happens to be a professional baseball pitcher from America who plays for the Chicago Cubs baseball team of Major League Baseball. Chris grew up in Texas and had his high school career at Arlington High School in Arlington, Texas.
Whiles still in high school, the Detroit Tigers chose him in the 18th round of the 2004 MLB draft but he did not sign with the Tigers. After school, he enrolled at McLennan Community College, where he played college baseball for the McLennan Highlanders.
After college in 2006, he was not drafted so he signed with the Fort Worth Cats of the United League Baseball, which happens to be independent of MLB, for the 2007 baseball season.
In 2011, the Boston Red Sox signed him on a minor league contract. He was assigned to the Greenville Drive of the Class A South Atlantic League that season. He was later promoted to the Salem Red Sox of the Class A-Advanced Carolina League and then to the Portland Sea Dogs of the Class AA Eastern League.
The Red Sox traded him in 2013 to the Colorado Rockies. The following year, the Rockies promoted him to the major leagues for the first time. He made his MLB debut on April 26 2014 when the Rockies faced the Los Angeles Dodgers. The Rockies traded him to the New York Yankees in 2015.
Chris signed a one-year contract with the Chicago Cubs in March 2022. The contract was worth $2.5 million.
