Clayton Walter Holmes is an American professional baseball pitcher who currently plays for the New York Yankees of Major League Baseball. Holmes was born on March 27, 1993, in the United States (MLB). In 2018, he made his Major League Baseball debut with the Pittsburgh Pirates.
During the 2011 Major League Baseball draft, the Pittsburgh Pirates chose Nick Holmes in the ninth round to join their organization.
He made his debut in the major leagues with the State College Spikes in 2012 and spent the entirety of the season with them, with a record of 5–3 with a 2.28 earned run average in 13 starts.
In 2014, he had Tommy John surgery, which caused him to miss the whole season. After pitching for the Indianapolis Indians and the Altoona Curve in 2017, he was promoted to the 40-man roster for the Pittsburgh Pirates.
On July 26, 2021, the Pittsburgh Pirates sent Holmes to the New York Yankees in exchange for Diego Castillo and Hoy Park. The deal was finalized on the day of the trade.
