Some may have thought that the price of the 29th overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft for Strange’s services was too high. Considering that most draft experts and mock draft enthusiasts had pegged him as a late third-round pick, at best, this was not surprising.
Yet, it was obvious that the people of New England had high expectations from Strange. Because of the rookie contract he signed with the team last Wednesday, he will be residing in Foxboro for the foreseeable future.
The terms of Strange’s contract have been made public less than a week after it was announced that he would be joining the Patriots.
On Tuesday, it was reported by The Boston Globe that the contract is a standard four-year rookie deal with a fifth-year team option, as dictated by the Collective Bargaining Agreement. Strange’s contract, however, is fully guaranteed, which is par for the course in the league.
The salary structure of the agreement benefits both parties, and it also provides the Patriots with a financial advantage. As the offseason began, New England was planning to spend around $9 million on guard Shaq Mason.
The Patriots, however, decided to part ways with the two-time Super Bowl champion in March and sent him to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in exchange for a fifth-round pick.
