In the National Football League, Cooper Rush competes as the quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys. He is 1.91 m tall and 102 kg in weight. At Lansing Catholic High School, where he attended classes, he participated in high school football. He was named All-State as a senior and was also named the Michigan Division 5/6 Player of the Year by the Associated Press and the Michigan Gatorade Player of the Year by ESPN.
By the time he graduated from high school, he had accumulated 7,248 passing yards, 80 passing touchdowns, and 1,438 rushing yards and 27 rushing scores. He attended Central Michigan University for both his undergraduate studies and his football career. He was selected the Scout Team Player of the Year at Central Michigan during his redshirt season.
He set a new single-season record for the school by passing for 3,703 yards through the first 13 games of his best season, which he accomplished as a junior in 2015. After the May 2017 NFL Draft, Rush was signed by the Dallas Cowboys as an undrafted free agent.
In March 2020, he re-signed with the Cowboys under a one-year restricted free agent tender. The New York Giants acquired him in a waivers pickup in May 2020. During the month of October 2020, Rush joined the Dallas Cowboys’ practice squad. Beginning on September 17, 2022, he was added to the active roster.
