Professional football safety Dane Belton plays for the National Football League’s New York Giants. He is 1.85 meters tall and 93 kg. He played football at Jesuit High School and graduated from high school as a three-star recruit. After receiving honorable mention as a sophomore, he was named second-team all-state as a junior. He had previously been named first-team and second-team all-county as a junior.
He attended the University of Iowa, where he participated in collegiate football for the Iowa Hawkeyes football team. He participated in eight games as a true freshman in 2019 and made four starts. As a sophomore, he recorded 33 tackles, one sack, five passes disallowed, and one forced fumble.
He was given honorable mention All-Big Ten status in 2020 by the league’s coaches and media. He played in all eight games of that season, recording a total of 19 solo tackles, 14 assists, 1.5 tackles for loss, one sack, five pass breakups, and one forced fumble. As a junior, he was named to the first team of the Big Ten Conference after recording 46 tackles, including three for loss, seven pass breakups, and five interceptions.
He declared that once the season was over, he would take part in the 2022 NFL Draft. The New York Giants selected Belton with the fourth-round choice (114th overall) of the 2022 NFL Draft. In training camp in August 2022, his collarbone was broken.
