David Birney Biography
David Birney was an American actor and director whose career included performances in both contemporary and classical roles in theatre, film, and television.
He starred in the Primetime Emmy Award-winning television drama “High Midnight” (1979) and finished the 1970s with a major part in John Carpenter’s horror film “Someone’s Watching Me!”
David returned to television in the 1980s, playing Dr. Ben Samuels in 22 episodes of the Golden Globe-nominated “St. Elsewhere” (1982-1983), and four episodes of the Golden Globe-winning “Murder, She Wrote” (1989-1993).
In 1990, Birney co-starred in the drama “Always Remember I Love You” with Stephen Dorff, and in 1995, he played Harry Chandler Moore in 13 episodes of the sitcom “Live Shot.”
Birney’s most recent prominent role was in the Golden Globe-winning series “Without a Trace,” which aired in 2007.
