David Wayne Culley is an American football coach, is the head coach of the Houston Texans of the National Football League. He was born on September 17, 1955. (NFL).
Culley, a former long-time assistant coach to Andy Reid, has 45 years of coaching experience at the collegiate and professional levels, most recently working as the NFL’s Baltimore Ravens’ associate head coach, wide receivers coach, and passing game coordinator from 2019 to 2020.
Culley has 27 years of NFL assistant coaching experience, including four as the assistant head coach and wide receivers coach for the Kansas City Chiefs. From 1999 through 2016, he was a member of Andy Reid’s staff with the Philadelphia Eagles and Kansas City Chiefs. Culley has only featured in one Super Bowl during his career, with the Eagles in 2005.
Culley was born and raised in the Tennessee town of Sparta. He was a point guard in basketball, a pitcher in baseball, and a quarterback in football at White County High School. Culley was the first African-American to play quarterback at Vanderbilt, where he was the first African-American to do so in school history.
