David (Davie) Wilson was a former footballer who played in club games as well as international games. He was born on January 10, 1939, in Glasgow in the United Kingdom. He died at the age of 85 on Tuesday, June 14, 2022.
Davie Wilson Career
Davie started playing football at a young age. As a teenager, he wanted to play in the local Junior club Cambuslang Rangers but they rejected him for being too small. Later, they called him and signed him into the team in 1956.
Davie made his professional debut on 2 January 1957. The Rangers chose him to play in international games where he played against AS Saint-Étienne and AC Milan. He scored a lot of goals for the Rangers and earned them the semi-finals spot in the European Cup.
They won the Scottish Cup that year and also won the Scottish League Cup the following year. In January 1972, he moved to Dumbarton club and helped the club win promotion at the end of that season. When he was 36, he retired from playing football after he helped Dumbarton maintain its status in the top division. He was later made the coach of the club.
