Dean Marlowe started his football career at Holy Cross High School. During his time on the football team, he played as a quarterback and a safety. Marlowe is currently in his eighth season as an NFL player, and the experienced football safety currently plays for the Atlanta Falcons of the National Football League.

With the help of fellow teammate Devon Cajuste, they lead the Knights to the CHSAA Semifinal game, where they were defeated by the third-ranked team in the state, St. Anthony’s, by a score of 27–7.
At the end of the season, Holy Cross was ranked 18th in the state. Marlowe was signed by James Madison University and was rated by Rivals.com as two stars prospect.
After high school, Marlowe attended James Madison University and was part of the James Madison Dukes football team from 2011 to 2014. He did not make the team in 2010 as he was redshirted that year.
In his college career, he played a total of 48 games and scored a career total of 326 tackles, 12 interceptions, and 30 passes defended. Marlowe was selected to the All-CAA First Team in both 2012 and 2014, respectively
