Deandre Lamar Baker was born on September 4, 1997, and currently plays for the Kansas City Chiefs of the National Football League as a cornerback. He was a member of the Georgia Bulldogs football team in college and was selected by the New York Giants with the 30th overall choice in the 2019 NFL Draft.
The night before national signing day, Baker tweeted that he would be signing with Texas, which led to suspicion that he might instead sign with Georgia. Baker appeared in 11 games as a freshman in 2015 at Georgia.
In a game against Vanderbilt during the 2016 season, Baker got hurt. However, against Georgia Tech he has hurt again and had to be replaced. After the 2017 season, Baker was chosen to the SEC’s Second Team All-Conference. In the end, Baker decided to return to school for his senior year rather than declare for the NFL draft in 2018.
Baker was a standout college football defensive back his senior year. With 175 receiving yards and a 40.2 NFL passer rating from opposition receivers in 2018 placed among the top five cornerbacks with at least 300 coverage snaps eligible for the 2019 NFL Draft. Baker was one of the greatest defensive back prospects in the 2019 NFL Draft.
