The Oakland Athletics claimed Garneau off waivers on August 4, 2017. The next day, he was added to the Athletics’ active roster.

Garneau hit .159 with one home run and three RBI in 19 games for Oakland. To begin the 2018 season, Garneau was sent to the Triple-A Nashville Sounds. The Athletics designated Garneau for assignment on May 21, 2018.

The Chicago White Sox claimed Garneau off waivers on May 24, 2018. He was assigned to the Triple-A Charlotte Knights, where he batted .252 in 45 games.

On August 3, Garneau was promoted to the White Sox. Garneau appeared in only one game for the Cubs this season, going 1-for-2 with a walk.

Garneau was outrighted to the minors and removed from the White Sox’s 40-man roster on October 2. On November 2, 2018, he chose free agency.

Garneau signed a minor league contract with the Los Angeles Angels on November 19, 2018.

He began the 2019 season with the Salt Lake Bees of Triple-A. Garneau’s contract was selected on May 22, 2019, and he was brought up to the main league squad.

On July 12, he was in the batter’s box for Taylor Cole and Félix Pena’s combined no-hitter. The Angels designated him for assignment on July 31 after he hit .232/.346/.362 in 28 games.
