Eduardo Lizarlde Chavez was a Mexican poet, academic and Administrative. He was born on July 14, 1929, in Mexico City in Mexico. Lizalde was popularly known as “El Tigre” for repeating his themes about tigers in his works that stem from his childhood fondness of the stories Salgari and Kiping. Lizalde passed away in the early hours of today, May,25,2022.
Lizalde’s father was an engineer and taught him to read and write at an early age. This was when he was introduced to literature. He began to write and publish his first short poems at the age of 18 in the year 1948. His poems were first published in the magazine El Universal.
He managed to publish his first book of poems “La Mala Hora” when he was only 27 while he was studying Literature at the National Autonomous University of Mexico.
In 1955, Lizalde became a member of the Communist Party of Mexico but unfortunately, he was expelled in 1960 together with his friend Jose Revueltas.

He was the director of the Jose Vasconcelos Library. He was also a co-host of Contrapunto, which is a weekday radio program from the Instituto Mexicano De La Radio.
