Elijah Allan Morgan, professionally called Eli Morgan is a professional baseball player in the major leagues. He plays as a pitcher for the Cleveland Indians baseball team.
Eli was a student at Peninsula High School in Rolling Hills Estates, California where he played baseball for the school team. He was honoured as the Bay League Co-Pitcher of the Year and All-California Interscholastic Federation First Team.
When he completed high school, he continued at Gonzaga University and played college baseball for the Gonzaga Bulldogs. In 2015, he played collegiate summer baseball for the Mat-Su Miners in the collegiate Alaska Baseball League where he was named to the All-League Team.
During the 2017 MLB draft, Eli was drafted by the Cleveland Indians in the 8th round of the 2017 draft. He signed with the Indians and received $135,000 as a signing bonus. The Indians assigned him to the Mahoning Valley Scrappers of the Class A Short Season New York–Penn League where he made his professional debut that season.
The following season in 2018, he played for the Lake County Captains of the Class A Midwest League. The Indians promoted him to the Lynchburg Hillcats of the Class A-Advanced Carolina League in May of that year.
During the 2019 minor league season, he was with Lynchburg at the start of the season and later received a promotion to the Akron RubberDucks of the Class AA Eastern League. He was promoted to the major leagues on May 28, 2021. He made his MLB debut that same day for the Indians when they played against the Toronto Blue Jays.
