Friday morning while out for a jog at the University of Memphis, Fletcher allegedly was forced into a black SUV. A black GMC Terrain is allegedly seen passing by her in surveillance footage of the area where her phone was found, which was found after her husband reported her missing.
The video that was used to support the complaint shows a man exiting the SUV, approaching the woman “aggressively,” and shoving her into the passenger seat. According to the affidavit, the SUV was parked in a parking lot for more than four minutes with both people inside.
Officers allegedly detained him over the weekend after discovering the GMC Terrain in a parking lot close to Cleotha Abston’s residence in southeast Memphis, according to the complaint. He was accused of tampering with evidence and kidnapping that was especially aggravating. The Shelby County Jail reports that Abston, 38, is being held there on a $500,000 bond and has a Tuesday court date.
