Esther Grace Pujols is the daughter of Albert Pujols and Deidre Pujols. His father, Albert Pujols plays baseball professionally for the St. Louis Cardinals of Major League Baseball under the name José Alberto Pujols Alcántara. He bats designated and plays first base. Prior to being selected by the Cardinals in the thirteenth round of the 1999 MLB Draft, he played one season of college baseball.
When he was a member of the Cardinals in 2001, he won the National League Rookie of the Year title without a tie. Pujols regularly helped the Cardinals win both of their World Series championships in 2006 and 2011. After the 2011 season, he agreed to a 10-year contract with the Angels as a free agent.
In March 2022, Pujols agreed to a one-year deal with the Cardinals for his last season in the big leagues. He has twice led the National League in home runs and received six Silver Slugger Awards. He has 14 seasons with 100 or more RBIs and is one of only five players in MLB history to surpass 2,000 RBIs in a career. He also became the fourth player in MLB history to amass 3,000 hits and 600 home runs, following Willie Mays, Hank Aaron, and Alex Rodriguez. He is widely considered as a Hall of Famer and the oldest MLB player who is still competing as of 2022.
