Frank Paul Vogel (born June 21, 1973) is a professional basketball coach in the United States.
He has previously led the Los Angeles Lakers, Indiana Pacers, and Orlando Magic of the National Basketball Association (NBA).
Vogel has also worked as an assistant coach with the Indiana Pacers, Philadelphia 76ers, and Boston Celtics in the past. In 2020, he led the Lakers to an NBA championship.
Vogel was hired as head coach of the Los Angeles Lakers on May 13, 2019.
He guided the club to a 52–19 record and an NBA championship in his first season, with the best record in the Western Conference and the third-best record in the league.
Because the Lakers had the best record in the Western Conference, Vogel was selected as head coach for the 2020 NBA All-Star Game.
The Lakers won five games against the Portland Trail Blazers, Houston Rockets, and Denver Nuggets in the playoffs. They defeated the Miami Heat in six games in the 2020 NBA Finals to win the Lakers’ 17th NBA Championship, matching Boston for the most titles.
After returning after a four-month ban due to the COVID-19 outbreak, the squad spent more than 100 days on the NBA bubble.
