George Chelston Springer III is a Major League Baseball outfielder for the Toronto Blue Jays. From 2014 until 2020, he was a member of the Houston Astros. Springer was named to the MLB All-Star team, won the Silver Slugger Award, and won the World Series in 2017. He has also been voted the Most Valuable Player of the 2017 World Series (MVP).
The Minnesota Twins selected Springer in the 48th round of the 2008 MLB draft. He declined to sign because he felt he was not ready for professional baseball. Springer was a member of the Connecticut Huskies baseball team in college. He was named to the Freshman All-America First Team by Baseball America in 2009. Springer was selected Big East Player of the Year in 2011.
