Kem Badenoch is the wife of banker Hamish Badenoch. In 2009, Hamish and Kemi first crossed paths at the Dulwich and West Norwood Conservative Club, and they eventually went on to get married the following year.

Kemi Badenoch is a British politician who has served as a member of Parliament (MP) for Saffron Walden since 2017. A member of the Conservative Party, she served as Minister of State for Local Government, Faith and Communities and Minister of State for Equalities from 2021 to 2022.

Before she resigned from the London Assembly in 2015, Badenoch had unsuccessfully run for the seat in 2012. Badenoch, a Brexit backer in the 2016 election, was elected to the House of Commons last year.

In July 2019, Badenoch was appointed Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Children and Families by Boris Johnson, who then became the Prime Minister.

For her part, she was promoted to Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Equalities in the February 2020 reshuffle. Minister of State for Equalities in September 2021 was elevated to Minister of State for Local Government, Faith, and Communities.

The Conservative Party’s leadership race for 2022 will feature Badenoch, who resigned from the government in July 2022 and has since run for Johnson’s position.

As of the 17th of July 2022, Badenoch is still one of five candidates in the running for President of the United States, having finished fourth out of eight contenders on the first ballot.
