Tatjana Malek is a German professional tennis player. In November 2017, she reached her best singles ranking of world No. 46, and in June 2016, she peaked at No. 54 in the doubles rankings.
Besides the WTA Tour, she has won two singles titles and four doubles win on the ITF Circuit. Between 2006 and 2011 and 2018 and 2020, she appeared in 12 games (18 matches) for Germany in the Billie Jean King Cup.
Both the Mallorca Open and the Copa Colsanitas were Maria’s WTA Tour singles tournament wins in 2018. During the 2022 Wimbledon Championships, she defeated world number 5 Maria Sakkari in the third round and saved two set points against 12th seed Jeena Ostapenko in the round of 16.
After this, she became the oldest player to make her Wimbledon quarterfinal debut. A three-set victory over fellow German Jule Niemeier put her into the semi-finals.
She became the sixth woman beyond the age of 34 to reach a Wimbledon semifinal, and the sixth woman from Germany to do so. She lost in three sets to second seed and world number two Ons Jabeur.
She became the first mother-of-two since Margaret Court in 1975 to reach the semifinals of a major tournament, and only the fourth player outside the Top 100 to accomplish it at Wimbledon.
