He was picked in the seventh round of the 2012 MLB draft by the Philadelphia Phillies after his junior year. He made his professional debut in 2012 with the Low-A Williamsport Crosscutters, as well as the Single-A Lakewood BlueClaws, where he posted a 7-3 record and 2.50 ERA.
