One of the offensive positions in American Football is known as the tight end. With traits and responsibilities that fall in between offensive lineman and wide receiver, the tight end is typically a unique position in the NFL. Offensive tackles are generally found on the offensive line and are capable of blocking opponents well. On the other hand, unlike offensive linemen, they are capable receivers that deserve the attention of defense while running throw patterns.

As a result of the position’s hybrid character, the tight end’s function in any particular offense is contingent on the tactical preferences and philosophy of the head coach as well as the general dynamics of the squad. In certain schemes, the tight end is just used as a sixth offensive lineman and seldom gets involved in the passing game.

This is not the first time that the Houston Texans’ tight ends have been exceptional. There’s no denying that the NFL’s tight end position isn’t the most glamorous one.

Here is a list of 5 of the Houston Texans Best Tight Ends Players Of All-Time.

1. Owen Daniels

During his tenure with the Texans, Daniels served as a safety net for quarterbacks Matt Schaub and the others. Daniels caught 385 receptions for 4,617 yards, 29 touchdowns, a million fakeouts, and numerous unexpected blocks on opposing defenders over an eight-year Houston career.

2. C.J. Fiedorowicz

The four years that C.J. Fiedorowicz spent with the Texans saw him start 42 games, catch 89 receptions for an impressive 881 yards and six scores, and inflict an unknown number of bulldozing hits on opposition defenders. A tough tight end in Houston history was put on indefinite leave after sustaining his third concussion of the season in his fourth season. After a few months, he decided to retire.

3. Joel Dreessen

A year into his second season with the Texans, Dreessen was traded to the Denver Broncos, where he spent five seasons before retiring. Dreessen caught 105 catches for 1,323 yards and 13 touchdowns during his career in Houston.

4. Garrett Graham

Graham caught 100 passes in his six-year career, racking up 1,059 yards, 10 touchdowns, and was one of the lone bright spots in an abysmal 2013 season where he started 11 games; he caught 49 passes for 545 yards and 5 touchdowns.

5. Jordan Akins

Akins has shown glimpses of brilliance throughout his brief stint on H-Town. The former Texas Ranger had a career-high 53 receptions for 643 yards, two scores, and a slew of crucial blocks. His 73 yards on three catches and two touchdowns in Week 3 of 2019 is one of the greatest from a Texans tight end in recent memory.
