London Fashion Week is a clothing trade show that takes place in London twice a year, in February and September. It’s a show that outdoors over 250 designers to a global audience of influential media and retailers. It was a four-day event and one of the ’Big Four’ fashion weeks, along with the New York, Milan and Paris fashion period.
The London fashion week is an event organised by the British Fashion Council (BFC) for the London development agency with help from the department for business, innovation and skills. London Fashion Week first took place in October 1983 and has been consistent over the years. This is a special event that also attracts significant press attention and gives so much benefit to taxpayers. It is attended by over 5,000 press and buyers and has estimated orders of over £100 million.
In June 2012, the event organisers added the men’s collection in addition to the collections shows in spring/summer and autumn/winter. Following London Fashion Week each season, the 4-day London Fashion Week Festival (LFWF), formerly known as London Fashion Weekend, offers a consumer-orientated fashion week experience.
How do you get invited to London Fashion Week?
You either need to be invited by a designers press team or apply for a ticket yourself by visiting the London Fashion Week website, choosing the designer you hope to watch, and emailing the Press Office with a well-written email and a reason why you should attend. The London fashion week 2022 will be held from 18th February to 22 February.
