He is known to be the son of his parents whose name are identified as  Willie Alford and  Irene Alford.

Jordan began his high school education at Circle High School in Towanda, Kansas, where he played high school football. 

Phillips after completing high school furthered his education into college at the University of Oklahoma where he played college football for the school team.

As a freshman in 2011, he was redshirted. As a redshirt freshman in 2012, he appeared in 12 games, recording 12 tackles. Phillips played in only four games his sophomore season in 2013 due to a back injury.

Jordan currently plays the position of a defensive tackle whiles wearing the number 97 for the Buffalo Bills in the NFL.
