Edward Oliver plays defensive tackle for the Buffalo Bills of the National Football League. He played college football at the University of Houston and was selected first overall by the Buffalo Bills in the 2019 NFL Draft.
Oliver received his high school education at Westfield in Houston. As a senior, Oliver had 83 tackles, nine sacks, and an interception on his stat sheet. As a junior, Oliver had 84 tackles and seven sacks. Westfield finished Oliver’s senior year with a record of 11-1 and advanced to the area final of the 2015 UIL playoffs, where they were defeated by Austin Lake Travis by a score of 28-21. Austin Lake Travis went on to finish as the runner-up in the state.
Oliver was given a rating of five stars across the board and was considered to be one of the best players in his graduating class. Oliver initially committed to playing college football at LSU, but later recommitted to playing college football at the University of Houston, becoming the first recruit rated by ESPN as a five-star to commit to a school outside of the Power Five conferences.
