Lewis grew up in Washington, D.C., and went to St. John’s College High. Lewis racked up 42 tackles, 21 for loss, and nine sacks as a senior, earning him USA Today and Gatorade’s Football Player of the Year honors.
On his way to 2016 Under Armour All-America Game. Lewis, a five-star prospect by Rivals.com and a four-star recruit by ESPN, Scout, and 247Sports, initially committed to play college football at Ohio State during his junior year. He de-committed from Ohio State in the summer before his senior year, choosing Alabama over Maryland, Florida State, and Mississippi.
