Is 12yr Old Abigail Redmond Dead Or Alive?
After her worried mother “feared the worst,” a missing teenager, Abigail Redmond was found safe nearly 10 miles from her house.
At 11.30 a.m. on Monday, 12-year-old Abigail Redmond vanished from her school, St Andrew’s Secondary in Glasgow’s East End.
Lisa Carruthers, the Easterhouse schoolgirl’s worried mother, contacted 911 at 6 p.m. on Monday after not seeing or hearing from Abigail for nearly seven hours.
Following a series of urgent online appeals from locals, police said a search was beginning on Tuesday morning.
A “relieved” Lisa told the Record a few hours later that Abigail had been located almost 10 miles away in Glasgow’s Govanhill.
She believes Abigail travelled from the East End to the South Side with “an older girl not known to the family”, sparking fear among loved ones.
While “thankful” that her daughter was traced, Lisa awaits Abigail’s return home as she reflected on what was a “terrifying” time for the family.
She said: “Police have just told us that they’ve found Abigail somewhere in Govanhill. She travelled there with an older girl last night, who we don’t know.
“I’m so relived. Abigail never does anything like this, we really feared the worst it was terrifying.”
She added: “We’re so thankful to be getting her home, I can’t wait to see her. “I don’t know the details of what’s happened so I just want to know that she is safe. This could have been a lot worse.”
