Born on February 11, 1992, Jacob Thomas Matthews plays offensive lineman for the National Football League’s Atlanta Falcons (NFL). The Falcons selected him with the sixth overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft.
At Texas A&M, he played collegiate football. He comes from the football playing Matthews family. Matthews played offensive tackle for the Elkins Knights high school football team while attending Missouri City’s Elkins High School.
As a junior in 2012, Matthews was chosen for the first team of the Southeastern Conference (SEC) in honor of his productive campaign. The Football Writers Association of America also named him to their first team of All-Americans.

In the 2014 NFL Draft, the Atlanta Falcons selected Matthews with the sixth overall choice. Matthews and the Falcons made it to Super Bowl LI in the 2016 campaign, where they played the New England Patriots.
In the Super Bowl, Matthews participated in all offensive snaps and committed two important holding penalties that most likely caused the Patriots to win the game in the closing seconds as the Falcons lost 34-28 in overtime.
Matthews and the Falcons agreed to a three-year, $52.5 million agreement on March 14, 2022.
