American football player Taiwan Markis Jones is a linebacker for the Michigan Panthers of the United States Football League. He was born on December 1, 1993, in New Baltimore, Michigan. Taiwan is his name and he is not from the country named Taiwan.
In college, he played football for Michigan State. 2015 saw Jones sign as an undrafted free agent with the New York Jets. Jones was selected by the Michigan Panthers of the USFL with the eleventh choice in the twenty-first round of the 2022 USFL Draft.
Jones studied at Michigan’s Anchor Bay High School. Both Rivals.com and Scout.com listed Jones as the 30th and 57th best linebackers, respectively. Jones was chosen for the All-Midwest Team of the PrepStar.
Jones was predicted to be selected in the fifth round of the 2015 NFL Draft, and NFLDraftScout.com compared him to current Cincinnati Bengals linebacker Nico Johnson and NFL linebacker Brandon Spikes.
Following the 2015 NFL Draft, Jones signed with the New York Jets as an undrafted free agent in May of that year.
He received a promotion to the active roster on December 18, 2015. He was waived by the Jets as part of the team’s final roster cuts on September 3, 2016.
On October 26, 2016, the Jets re-signed him releasing him on November 22, 2016.
