Tony Lee Dow was born in the United States and is a sculptor, film producer, director, and actor. His portrayal of the main character in the long-running television sitcom Leave It to Beaver, which ran from 1957 to 1963, is largely responsible for his international celebrity.



Dow portrayed Wally Cleaver, the oldest son of June and Ward Cleaver and the brother of Theodore “Beaver” Cleaver. Dow Cleaver’s parents were June and Ward Cleaver.

Dow played Wally in a television movie and an episode of The New Leave It to Beaver between 1983 and 1989. William Dow was an American actor best known for his role as Wally Cleaver in the television series Leave It to Beaver, which aired in the 1950s.



In addition, he appeared as a guest star on Dr Kildare’s The Greatest Show on Earth, Never Too Young, and Mr Novak. During the 1960s and 1970s, he worked in the construction industry while concurrently studying journalism and photography.

The Young Artist Foundation honoured him with the Former Child Star Lifetime Achievement Award in 1987. This honour was given to him.

In October of 2021, Dow was diagnosed with pneumonia and admitted to the hospital. In May of 2022, he received the news that he had cancer.

On July 26, 2022, after erroneous claims of his death, his family announced that  Dow was at his home in Topanga, California, in his “final hours,” under the care of hospice professionals.
