Jean Carlos Meja is a Dominican professional baseball pitcher who currently plays for the Milwaukee Brewers in Major League Baseball.
He was born on August 26, 1996. He has past Major League Baseball experience, having played for the Cleveland Indians.
In 2013, Meja signed as an international free agent with the Cleveland Indians. In his professional debut in 2014, he went 3–0 with a 2.70 ERA in 33+13 innings with the Dominican Summer League Indians.
In 2015 and 2016, he pitched in the Dominican Summer League, finishing 4–3 with a 1.37 ERA in 39+13 relief innings in 2015 and 2–4 with a 3.48 ERA in 33+23 innings in 2016.
He pitched for the Arizona League Indians and the Mahoning Valley Scrappers in 2017, going 2–0 with a 1.22 ERA in 21 relief appearances, and for the Lake County Captains and Lynchburg Hillcats in 2018,
he went 4–9 with a 3.31 ERA in 18 games.
In 2018 he joined the Indians’ 40-man roster. Meja began 2019 in Lynchburg. 2019: 3-1, 4.09 ERA, 36 Ks in 33.0 IP. Due to the COVID-19 epidemic, Meja didn’t play in 2020.
Mejia started 2021 with the Columbus Clippers. Meja debuted in the majors on May 18, 2021. On May 21, 2021, he relieved the Minnesota Twins, striking out 5 hitters in 2+13 innings.
Meja had an 8.25 ERA and 47 strikeouts in 17 2021 outings. The Cleveland Guardians assigned Meja on November 19, 2021.
