Jacob Berkshire Meyers is a Major League Baseball outfielder for the Houston Astros in the United States (MLB). Meyers was a member of the Nebraska Cornhuskers baseball team in college.
The Astros selected him in the 13th round of the 2017 MLB draft. In August of 2021, he made his MLB debut.
Meyers attended Westside High School in Omaha, Nebraska, where he was born and raised. Westside won the Class A state championship in his junior and senior years.
Meyers was chosen captain of both the Omaha World-Herald All-Nebraska team and the Lincoln Journal Star Super-State team as a senior after pitching to a 9–0 record, 0.97 ERA, and 80 strikeouts in 58 innings pitched while also hitting. With six triples, 51 runs, and 23 RBIs, he batted 440.
Meyers was a pitcher and outfielder for the Nebraska Cornhuskers in college baseball. In his rookie season, he finished 3–1 with a 2.38 ERA in 16 appearances as a pitcher.
Meyers was nominated to the third team All-Big Ten Conference as a sophomore after leading the team with a.326 batting average and a 1.42 ERA.
After hitting .297 with one home run, seven doubles, 16 RBIs, 52 runs scored, and 20 stolen bases while also going 8–2 on the mound with a 3.42 ERA in 84.1 innings pitched, he was awarded first-team All-Big Ten and third-team All-American by Baseball America and the NCBWA.
