Jalen Lattrel Ramsey is an American football cornerback with the National Football League’s Los Angeles Rams. He attended Florida State and was taken fifth overall by the Jacksonville Jaguars in the 2016 NFL Draft.
Ramsey rapidly established himself as one of the NFL’s top cornerbacks while with the Jaguars, earning the Pro Bowl twice and being selected an All-Pro in 2017, in addition to helping Jacksonville end a decade-long postseason drought.
He was, however, traded to the Los Angeles Rams midway through the 2019 season following a fallout and dispute with the Jaguars’ head staff. In 2020, he signed a contract extension with the Rams that gave him the league’s highest-paid defensive back at the time.
Ramsey was born in Smyrna, Tennessee, on October 24, 1994, to Lamont and Margie Ramsey, an EMT and Jalen’s training instructor. Jamal, Jalen’s older brother, attended Battle Ground Academy in Franklin, Tennessee, and played quarterback for Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, where their father played football.
Jalen honed his football abilities in a neighborhood park, competing against much older lads. In a household of Florida Gators fans, he grew up rooting for the Miami Hurricanes.
