On Friday, a jury in St. Louis found the former reality TV star James “Tim” Norman guilty of plotting to kill his nephew. The trial took place in St. Louis.
After approximately 17 hours of deliberation, the jury decided that Norman, 43, should be found guilty of all charges.
He was charged with one count of conspiracy to commit wire and mail fraud as well as two charges of murder-for-hire in the federal court system.
The jury came to the conclusion that Norman planned and carried out the murder of his nephew Andre Montgomery, who was 21 at the time, in 2016, and then attempted to cash out up to $450,000 from a fraudulent life insurance policy he had taken out on Montgomery approximately 18 months before the death.
“Welcome to Sweetie Pie’s” was a long-running OWN reality show about the popular soul-food business that Robbie Montgomery, Norman’s mother and Andre’s grandmother, founded in the St. Louis area.
Both Norman and his nephew Andre starred in the show. Robbie Montgomery is Norman’s mother and Andre’s grandmother.
