At the end of 2006, Wade decided to give up his job as a mechanic and become a full-time darts professional after losing in the Las Vegas Desert Classic qualification.
He had his big break on television during the 2006 World Matchplay in July as a result of this, and the results were instant.
In his first-ever outing at the Winter Gardens, he made it to the final, defeating four experienced players.
