In 2021, Jaret Patterson was a UDFA who was signed by the Washington Commanders of the National Football League. The fact that Patterson didn’t make it in the 2021 NFL draft came as a surprise to many scouts and recruiters.
Patterson, a native of Glenn Dale, Maryland had his high school education at St. Vincent Pallotti High School in Laurel, Maryland, where he also played football.
During his senior year, Patterson amassed 2,045 yards and scored 23 touchdowns. He was responsible for 558 total yards in a game that was played against Riverdale Baptist. Patterson was named an honorable mention for the All-State team.
His involvement in athletic activities did not affect his academic work, hence, he graduated from high school in 2018.
Patterson attended the University of Buffalo and played three seasons with the Buffalo Bulls.
Patterson was granted a grayshirt in the fall of 2017, and he started participating in the team’s activities on a full-time basis during spring practice in 2018. Patterson completed his first season as a freshman in 2018 by rushing for 1,013 yards and 14 touchdowns.
Patterson had a solid college career and received some prestigious recognitions including; MAC Most Valuable Player (2020), MAC Offensive Player of the Year (2020), MAC Freshman of the Year, (2018), 2019 Bahamas Bowl MVP 2× first-team All-MAC (2019, 2020) and Second-team All-MAC (2018)
