Jason Peters is a popular offensive tackle footballer who plays for the National Football League’s Dallas Cowboys.
Jason Peters, who originally wanted to be a tight end, played collegiate football for Arkansas before signing as an undrafted free agent with the Buffalo Bills in 2004. As an American citizen, Jason Peters was born in Queen City, Texas, on January 22, 1982. He is the child of Bishop J. Peters and Teledeo Simington.
Peters played football for the Arkansas Razorbacks at the University of Arkansas after starring in both football and basketball at Queen City High School (TX).
He was initially signed as a defensive tackle, but he played reserve defensive lineman his first season. Later, he was switched to tight end, where as a sophomore, he caught four receptions for 37 yards.
Peters was named to the second team of the SEC after posting 21 receptions for 218 yards and four touchdowns during his junior season. In April 2004, the Buffalo Bills signed Peters as an undrafted rookie free agent. He was released and then re-signed to the practice squad of the Bills.
On November 12, 2004, he was added to the active roster. Peters began learning to play offensive tackle under the guidance of offensive line coach Jim McNally while making his mark on special teams as a wedge buster on kickoffs and as a blocking tight end.
Peters defeated former Texas standout Mike Williams in the 2006 NFL Draft to become the Bills’ starting right tackle. Peters received a contract extension with the Bills worth $15 million over five years as compensation for his performance.
Peters was firmly established as the starting right tackle in 2007 as the season started. The Bills changed up their offensive line after Week 7 in order to better safeguard quarterback J. P. Losman. Mike Gandy was transferred inside and replaced by Peters at left tackle.
