Jesse Winker is an American professional baseball outfielder who currently plays for the Seattle Mariners of Major League Baseball. Winker was born on August 17, 1993. (MLB).
Earlier in his career, he was a member of the Cincinnati Reds. In 2021, he was selected as an All-Star for the National League
Winker was born in Buffalo, New York, and spent his early years in Niagara Falls, New York, until the family relocated to Orlando, Florida when he was seven years old.
After graduating from Olympia High School in Orlando, Florida, Winker was selected by the Cincinnati Reds in the first round (49th overall) of the 2012 Major League Baseball draft.
When he was a junior at Olympia, he had a batting average of.509 in baseball. He had committed to playing collegiate baseball at the University of Florida for the Florida Gators, however, instead of attending college, he decided to sign with the Reds rather than play for the Gators.
Winker debuted in 2012 with the Billings Mustangs. He hit.338/.443/.500 in 228 at-bats over 62 games. Winker was Baseball America’s sixth-best Reds prospect in 2013.
He was a Midwest League All-Star and Home Run Derby champion with the Dayton Dragons. In 112 games, he hit.281/.379/.463 with 16 homers in 417 at-bats. He was Baseball America’s fourth-best Reds prospect before 2014.
He started with Bakersfield Blaze. He was promoted to Double-A in June. Winker went 1-2 in July’s All-Star Futures Game. In July, a vehicle accident ended his season after he tore a tendon in his right wrist.
He hit.287/.399/.518 in 74 games with 15 homers and 57 RBIs (RBI). Winker played in the Arizona Fall League. Winker batted.282 with 13 homers and 55 RBIs for Pensacola in 2015.
