James Jacob Nelson is a Major League Baseball pitcher who currently pitches for the Los Angeles Dodgers (MLB). He has also played for the Milwaukee Brewers in Major League Baseball.
Nelson was selected in the 39th round of the 2007 Major League Baseball draft by the Cincinnati Reds. He did not sign a contract and went to the University of Alabama instead.
He finished 9-3 with a 4.01 ERA in 18 games as a junior in 2010. (17starts). Nelson was considered the Brewers’ top prospect and the 96th greatest prospect in baseball by Baseball America before the 2014 season.

He posted a 4.62 ERA in 2016 and was tied for first in the major leagues with 17 hit batsmen. Nelson left the game on September 8, 2017, after suffering an apparent shoulder injury while sliding to first base.
The next day, on September 9, it was reported that he had been diagnosed with a right rotator cuff strain and a partial anterior labrum tear, indicating that he will miss the rest of the 2017 season.
Nelson had a 12–6 record, 199 strikeouts, and a 3.49 ERA last season.
